The deliberate boss of the Sicilian mafia has been arrested by Italian police at a private clinic in Palermo, where he received medical treatment.

The deliberate boss of bosses of Cosa Nostra, Matteo Messina Denarowas arrested today by the Carabinieri in Palermo, according to Italian media, after 30 years on the run from justice.
The arrest took place at a private health clinic in Palermo, the Sicilian capital, where he went for medical treatment.
Born in Castelvetrano, in the Sicilian province of Trapani, Messina has Denaro today 60 years. He disappeared in 1993 and his whereabouts have been unknown ever since. There were only a few photos of him from 30 years ago and the last robot portrait contained new details entrusted to the police by some of the inmates around him.
Despite being Italy’s most wanted man, this did not stop him from traveling to Barcelona (Spain) for eye surgery, as several studies have shown.
The gangster’s arrest, with several life sentences for the 1993 Cosa Nostra attacks and numerous murders, comes, the media added, after the intensification of the investigations carried out by Palermo prosecutors Maurizio de Lucia and the deputy Paolo Guido.
