Being a project affecting the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV) and Navarre, it has required a ministerial treatment which has been successfully completed.

The installation of azazeta, with 8 generators and a generating capacity of 40MW, will be located in the municipalities of Alegría-Dulantzi, Iruraiz Gauna, San Millán/Donemiliaga, Arraia Maeztu and Bernedo. As in the case of Labraza, the promoter is Aixeindar. The Basque government is currently finalizing the environmental impact statement of the Azazeta facility and processing will be completed with the approval of the special plan by the Provincial Council of Álava.

At present, the Basque Country generates 10% of its energy and the Basque government’s goal is to reach 15% by 2030 using renewable sources.
