An unusual skiing accident happened in the Tyrolean Zillertal on Tuesday: after a joint ride with the chairlift, a German (59) was rammed by a snowboarder when getting off. The holidaymaker fell and was seriously injured. The man fled.
According to the police, the fatal collision took place shortly before 11 a.m. in the ski area Hochzillertal. The 59-year-old German took the chairlift “8er Snow Express”. Also on board: an unknown snowboarder. At the mountain station, the two inadvertently got in each other’s way.
„A few meters after the exit, the snowboarder ran over the woman’s skis, causing her to fall and, according to the initial diagnosis, to break her left knee,” police said.
Instead of helping and cooperating with the employees of the mountain railway, the stranger fled. “Despite previous requests, he has not released his details,” the detectives continued.
Police are hoping for clues
The fugitive is about 1.7 meters tall and obese. He wore a brownish jacket and spoke German. Police are now hoping for witnesses.
