A raid on a post office on Thursday morning led to a large-scale police operation, in which WEGA was also involved. During the operation, there were several roadblocks and two police cars collided. WEGA officials were able to arrest the suspect a little later.
At around 9:10 a.m., the perpetrator came to the downtown branch, pretended to have a gun in his jacket pocket, and demanded money. The man then fled.
Police cars collided
An intensive search was immediately conducted for the perpetrator. “During the search, there were temporary traffic blocks and a traffic accident between two police vehicles in Landesgerichtsstraße,” police spokesman Daniel Fürst reports. No officials were injured in the accident, only material damage was caused.
24 minutes from robbery to arrest
Only a little later could the alleged perpetrator be arrested on the basis of a description via the radio in Neutorgasse. Only 24 minutes had passed between the attack and the arrest. He was not armed and money was seized. The investigation is ongoing.
