A 30-year-old man was seriously injured on his face in Vienna on Sunday morning. He had seen a stranger harassing a woman at the Wien-Mitte train station and intervened. The perpetrator then hit him in the face with brass knuckles and fled.
Around 8:30 am, the witness saw the scene take place near the railway. When he spoke to the stranger and asked him to leave the woman alone, his adversary attacked and beat him. The alleged perpetrator then fled.
The 30-year-old had suffered serious injuries in the brass knuckles attack and was taken to hospital after first aid by the Viennese professional rescue service. A search for the culprit turned up nothing. Police are asking for the help of any witnesses to the crime.
