A family in Villach will probably not soon forget this Thursday evening. She was surprised by a burglar in the stairwell of her parental home. The parents managed to flee to the neighbors with their children.
It could be scenes from a movie. It was 6:30 p.m. when the couple (32 and 31), who were on the top floor of their parental home with their two children, were startled by a noise. A 26-year-old from Villach known to the office broke open the front door despite the surveillance camera and simply marched into the house, although it was clear that someone was home. When he met the family in the stairwell, he even said hello. The family then fled to neighbours, from where the emergency services were alerted.
The burglar had run a bathroom in the house in the meantime. A short time later, several SPK Villach patrols and police dog handlers arrived and surrounded the house. Since the burglar did not respond to the request to leave the house, EKO Cobra agents had to storm the house and arrest the 26-year-old in the bathroom. All involved were unharmed. Further investigations are being conducted. Significant damage was caused to the front door, which had been broken open.
