A man fell off a ladder in St. Marienkirchen an der Polsenz (Upper Austria) on Saturday morning and was impaled by the metal post of a chain link fence. He was about to chop off a branch from a tree when he fell. Emergency services freed the injured.
The 39-year-old from the Grieskirchen district wanted to remove the branch from an oak on his father’s property in the Eferding district around 11 a.m. on Saturday. The branch was secured with a rope by his 83-year-old father.
The 39-year-old climbed the ladder and sawed through the branch with a chainsaw at a height of about five meters. Suddenly the branch splintered and hit him in the head.
This caused him to fall off the ladder and land on his back on the metal post of the garden gate. After emergency medical first aid, the 39-year-old was admitted to the Wels Clinic.
