Fatal leisure accident on Sunday in the Tyrolean Ötztal: A 71-year-old German woman lost control of the wheel while tobogganing, went over the edge of the track and fell into the adjacent forest area. The injured had to be rescued with helicopter rope.
The accident happened shortly before 3 p.m. in the municipality of Längenfeld. The 71-year-old was tobogganing from the Nisslalm down into the valley when she came to the lower part of the toboggan run on the left side of the trail. As a result, the German fell into the forest.
Dew rescue from rough terrain
The woman was left there with serious injuries. After first aid, the holidaymaker was rescued from the rough terrain by a rope from the emergency doctor’s helicopter and then flown to the Innsbruck clinic.
Time and again, devastating tobogganing accidents happen in Tyrol, sometimes with serious injuries. Experts therefore recommend to be extra careful.
