Tour for charity – barefoot 400 kilometers through the Alps to help

Date:

In the summer, Johannes Kronegger plans a forced march without shoes! With cameraman Gabriel Moser he walks from Scharnstein in Upper Austria to Trieste. He set up the 400-kilometre tour as a charity campaign for the MPS Austria association.

Johannes Kronegger has been going barefoot since 2017. The 33-year-old is now planning his biggest adventure for the summer. He would like to cross the Alps completely without shoes, about 400 kilometers from Scharnstein to Trieste. However, the resident of Scharnstein does not have to make the 20-day trips alone.

Gabriel Moser also takes the long way. He will accompany Kronegger everywhere with his camera. “With shoes, of course,” the 18-year-old is very tense. “Physically it will be a huge challenge. The less weight I have to carry, the lighter it gets.” Only the bare essentials are included. Yet only the equipment weighs more than four kilos, plus the tent, clothing and food.

The resident of Kremsmünster prepares for the tour with endurance units. “An ice bath is also part of it to make it a bit tougher,” says the daring cameraman. In addition to training, the two spend a lot of time on the charity campaign that has been set up. “We decided to cross the Alps for a good cause. We collect for the association MPS Austria,” says Kronegger.

During school time, a classmate suffered from this metabolic disease with an average life expectancy of 15 years. “She never gave up, at 31 she can still walk”, “Mister Barefoot” hopes for many small and large donations. These are possible on the web at www.off-shoe.com.
