The scene was a supermarket on Europaplatz. The suspect, a 32-year-old man, was out for beer and pocketed several cans. But the act did not go unnoticed, the supermarket manager warned the police. The suspect was taken away, but then officials were “asked for directions by a passerby,” police spokesman Daniel Fürst reports. The alleged thief wanted to take advantage of the opportunity and fled.
The door didn’t open fast enough
“The officers gave chase, which was eventually ended a short time later by an automatic sliding door. However, this did not open quickly enough, so that the man ran into the still closed sliding door,” said the spokesperson. “The police officers were able to grab him, but during the arrest the sliding door opened and all three people fell to the ground.”
The police officers and the 32-year-old were injured, the officials were unable to continue the service. Eventually, the suspect ended up at the police station. He was questioned and set free.
