The volunteer fire brigade was turned out on Friday evening to a serious traffic accident in Gerasdorf near Vienna. A car had gone off the road and crashed into, among other things, a house wall and a gas station next to the road.
The car, in which several people were sitting, crashed into the gas station around midnight. A pipe had torn off and gas was escaping. Employees of EVN and Wien Energie were alerted. Turning off the main tap was the temporary solution to the problem.
Distributed on a large scale
Alarmed firefighters carried out measurements of the gas content in the air on site. Since the determined value was in the explosive range, fire protection was set. According to the helpers, the area was also largely closed off.
