The staff of four of the five Bizkaibus concessionaires (Busturia Lea Artibai Bus, Ezkerraldea-Meatzaldea Bus, Vectalia Enkarterri and Vectalia Txorierri Mungialdea) are facing another 24-hour strike today, Monday, to demand that the agreement be updated. The exception will be Avanza Durangaldea who, having agreed in the agreement on a salary increase around this year’s CPI, will provide the service normally.
As reported by the UGT trade union, these four companies will mobilize “for one fair agreement and salary increases according to the CPIso that “there is no discrimination between the employees of the different concessionaires”.
The UGT representatives demand that the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, as responsible for the Bizkaibus service, mediate in the negotiations.
In addition to the 24-hour strike, the staff of these concessionaires will manifest early in Bilbao. Vectalia Txorierri will demonstrate from Plaza San Pedro to the Palace of the Provincial Council, in Gran Vía, the place where the demonstrations of Ezkerraldea Meatzaldea (EMB) will arrive, which will start from EITB and Busturia Lea Artibai (BLB), which will start from Juan of Garay (Urizar Tower). The workers of Vectalia Enkarterri join the other demonstrations, which are gathering in front of the Palace of the Provincial Council, in Gran Vía, where they want to arrive around 10.30 am.
“We continue without a deal,” lamented Busturia Lea Artibai Bus commission president Oscar López, who “predicted a long conflict in Bizkaibus with the preconception that it could provoke civilians.”
