Attempted Scam – Supposedly Caught Deaf and Dumb by Shop Detective

Date:

Last week, two men in front of Carinthian supermarkets were robbed of their money by allegedly deaf women. On Wednesday, two Romanians pretending to be deaf and dumb started a scam in St. Veit – but were caught by a detective.

The attentive shop detective saw two women outside the St. Veit store on Wednesday who pretended to be deaf and dumb and begged customers for money. He then alerted the police around 2:30 p.m. and held the women until they arrived.

False documents presented
“The two suspects, a 28-year-old and an 18-year-old Romanian citizen, had a suspected forged certificate and a donor list on which several donors with a total of several hundred euros were listed,” says a police officer. .

connection cannot be ruled out
The scammers admitted that the certificate was fake. They were reported and arrested. “A connection with the fraud cases for the supermarkets in Klagenfurt and Althofen last week cannot be ruled out. The investigations are ongoing,” said Dominik Sodamin of the state police directorate.
