Attack in Carinthia – armed man fled with tens of thousands of euros

Date:

The alarm search for a Saturday morning robbery of a postal partner in Winklern (Carinthia) on Saturday has now been stopped. But the perpetrator is still on the run.

A “Krone reader” traveling on the B100 in Lendorf near Spittal reported that several police patrols armed with assault rifles were constantly checking traffic. The traffic jam extends to Möllbrücke.

Employee threatened with knife
According to the first information, the perpetrator managed to escape after stealing several tens of thousands of euros. When he opened the store, he allegedly followed an employee and threatened him with a knife. She was forced to put cash in a backpack. According to police spokeswoman Lisa Sandrieser, it is still unclear whether the perpetrator was able to flee on foot or by car.

The Cobra unit, the rapid reaction forces (SRK) and the police helicopter Libelle and a squad of assistance dogs were deployed. “The alarm search has been stopped, but local searches are still ongoing,” said Sandrieser. Police checks on the access roads were also lifted.

The unsub chose the best moment
“The perpetrator did it skillfully. At the moment we have half the frequency in Winklern,” explains Mayor Johann Thaler. Ten years ago, the robber would not have chosen the place. “There was much more activity and even more shops. Now there are hardly any people on the road and there is much less traffic,” says the mayor. It also made it easy to escape.
