The path is considered difficult – Wiener (27) disappeared after a walking tour in Dubai

Date:

A 27-year-old Austrian has been missing since Saturday in the United Arab Emirates. He had separated from his group on a hike to walk a difficult path. He never showed up at the agreed meeting point.

“We have to confirm that an Austrian national has been missing since Saturday in the border area between the UAE and Oman,” Foreign Ministry representatives said in Vienna on Monday evening. The search and rescue operation is underway, but so far without success. The Austrian embassies in Abu Dhabi and Muscat are in contact with local authorities.

As the missing man’s sister told the “Kurier”, Karim Azman had wanted to walk the difficult “Wadi Naqab” trail. “He made an appointment with a group on the ‘Couchsurfing’ platform, but then went off alone.” The others apparently didn’t want to walk the trail, although some of them would be more experienced hikers. They agreed on a meeting point, but Karim did not show up as arranged an hour later, the newspaper workers wrote.

Just eat for a day
The group then alerted the local police, who launched a search operation that included rescuers and helicopters. According to “Kurier”, the Viennese are only allowed to have food and drink with them for about a day. The sister last heard from her brother on Friday.
