An initially unknown fire devil kept the police and Florianis on their toes on Tuesday evening: within just 40 minutes, several fires broke out in the city center – garbage containers, among other things, went up in flames. After the alarm eventually went off in a residential building, it had to be evacuated. A 24-year-old suspect was eventually found.
Between 3:25 am and 4:05 am there were several fire incidents in the area of the old town and in the area of Herzog-Siegmund-Ufer/Blasius-Hueber-Straße. First, police officers noticed a burning dumpster in the old town during patrol duty. A short time later, two other dumpsters and a bicycle trailer went up in flames nearby.
Three fires in a house
But that’s not all: almost egAt the same time, other burning dumpsters were reported in the Blasius-Hueber-Strasse and Herzog-Siegmund-Ufer areas. “On the Herzog-Siegmund-Ufer, the agents who intervened could also observe heavy smoke development in a residential building. When the fire brigade arrived, it turned out that there were three independent fires in the underground parking garage and in the basement, “the researchers said.
Building was evacuated
The apartment complex was then evacuated. Due to “several clues”, a 24-year-old resident was eventually attacked by police as a suspect. “He was arrested. During a first interrogation, the man did not confess,” the detectives continue. The suspected perpetrator is released after consultation with the public prosecutor’s office.
A person has been admitted to the Innsbruck clinic with suspected smoke inhalation. The extent of the damage is unknown at this time.
