Day 3 of the last-generation two-week blockade in Vienna: After Monday’s Naschmarkt and Tuesday’s Kennedy Bridge and Schönbrunn Palace, activists targeted the Belt on Wednesday and paralyzed traffic at Westbahnhof.
According to the police, the protesters blocked the belt in both directions. As usual, the participants took their places on the zebra crossings and held up banners. The manager was already on site with a large contingent. Police began clearing the street just after 8 a.m.
Eight activists clung to two protective paths with one hand each, blocking the inner and outer belts. The dissatisfaction of the drivers was great. Eleven arrests have been made, according to police.
Main traffic routes in sight
The climate activists announced a two-week disruption campaign in the federal capital. This is aimed at car traffic and always tries to paralyze the main traffic routes in Vienna.
