The labor unions LAB, UGT, CCOO and ESK have called for a week-long strike. from February 27 to March 5, in the cleaning service that is outsourced by Osakidetza. The workers wear five years without an agreement and claim the homologation with the employees of Osakidetza.

At a press conference in Bilbao, they explained that at the time the three parties involved – companies, workers and Osakidetza – agreed to have “the same conditions”, but that after 50 meetings things are “practically the same as in the beginning”.

They recalled that they started negotiations on the new agreement in 2018, “convinced that this would be an easy negotiation” as it meant “just adjusting and updating certain things on the new agreements that have been agreed within Osakidetza have been reached.”.

However, they have indicated that after the numerous meetings held, the absolute blockade of the negotiations “is clear”. “We see that both the companies and the client (Osakidetza) are violating the Approval Principle by refusing to adapt and apply the various topics that apply to Osakidetza’s own staff,” they added.

As they have emphasized, they are not claiming issues beyond homologation, what they are asking is “to have access to the various calls for professional careers, a broader and fairer job cover system, access to partial retirement linked to the exemption , permits and licenses already recognized by Osakidetza employees, etc.

The trade union federations believe that the winning companies have “established themselves in a comfortable position, placing the responsibility on the management of Osakidetza and refusing to agree on any matter with the social party, unless with the prior approval of management.”
