On the other hand, the Basque government paid the state a quota of 932.3 million euros last year. Thus, the liquidation of the contributions at the end of the financial year amounted to EUR 11,598.8 million, EUR 594.9 million more than originally budgeted.
The forecasts have been met and the cumulative collection of concerted taxes in the three regions of the Basque Autonomous Community has increased again compared to the previous year. In 2021, the estates of Álava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa gathered €17.13 billion —two years ago they raised 15,963.2 million euros—, 7.3% more. This figure represents 21.4 million euros more than the October forecasts.
The representatives of the Basque Finance Council met today to analyze the accounts of the past year and set the guidelines for 2023. According to the information released after the meeting, the collection of personal income tax (IRPF) increased by 6.3% (6,497,697,730 euros) and that collected by corporate income tax (1,351,266,883 euros), 17%. In indirect taxes, total VAT collection increased by 10.6% last year compared to 2021.
Álava collected EUR 2,729.2 million (+9.7%) in concerted taxes; Bizkaia EUR 8,803.5 million (+ 8.2%); and Gipuzkoa 5,598.1 million euros (+ 4.8%).
On the other hand, as regards excise duties, its overall own-account collection fell by 1.7%, due on the one hand to the fall in the collection of excise duties on electricity (-69.6%) and on the other hand to the reduction in revenue from special tax on hydrocarbons (-3.1%).
In view of the closure of the collection in 2022, the General Adaptation Fund will be endowed with 98.3 million euros and will be divided between Álava and Gipuzkoa, corresponding to 12,367,769 and 85,929,333 respectively.
As for the quota paid to the Spanish State, the amount paid amounts to €932.3 million. All in all, the liquidation of the contributions at the end of the financial year amounted to EUR 11,598.8 million, EUR 594.9 million more than originally budgeted.
