At least 53 people have been killed in an attack by the Islamic State terrorist organization in Syria, according to activists and state media. The attack took place in the central Syrian city of Al-Suchna, as reported by the Sana State Agency and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights on Friday night.
The US Defense Department announced on Friday that troops in Syria killed a senior IS member in a helicopter attack.
The attack by IS may be in retaliation for Thursday’s US operation. The site of the attack is Al-Suchna in central Syria, more than 250 kilometers as the crow flies from the northwest of the earthquake-hit country.
