In Schruns (Vorarlberg), five cars were involved in a traffic accident on Sunday. First, a 79-year-old driver ended up in the oncoming lane, where he collided with an oncoming car. This crash then led to two more.
The 79-year-old man was driving his car into the valley in Schruns on Gantschierstraße (L 188) on Sunday afternoon when, for reasons that have not yet been clarified, he suddenly ended up in the oncoming carriageway. There he first hit the car of a 43-year-old driver, after which he drove head-on into an oncoming car of a 47-year-old.
As a result, the 43-year-old slipped his car and crashed into two other cars traveling into the valley, which were driven by a 74-year-old and a 64-year-old. The 74-year-old’s car went off the road and ended up in an adjacent meadow.
With the rescue to the hospital
The 79-year-old and his passenger suffered injuries of undetermined extent and were taken to the LKH Bludenz with the rescue. All five vehicles sustained serious material damage, four vehicles were no longer roadworthy and had to be towed away. The L 188 was difficult to pass during the period in which the accident was registered.
