The Spanish Minister of Agriculture has thus addressed all agents of the food chain. Although a positive evolution is expected, he asks that this is also reflected in the prices consumers pay.

The Spanish Minister of Agriculture, Luis Planas, met with producers, distributors and food vendors this Monday to find a solution to the rise in the cost of staple foods. As a general conclusion, it asked all actors in the food chain “an effort” to ensure that what they foresee is a positive evolution of the cost of food production is also reflected in the final prices consumers pay.
In statements to the media at the end of the meeting, Planas stressed that there are objective reasons to expect “that food prices will change and there will be a Change of trendHe has also insisted that in the Spanish state “are values more positive than in Europe“.
Said evolution, he stressed, will be “progressive”It won’t happen “overnight”. It will depend, among other things, on the “stabilisation” of the war in Ukraine or “that there will not be another extreme drought”.
The minister recalled that the CPI “has peaked” and that the origin of the increase lies “production costs”. Nevertheless, it foresees a positive evolution for the coming years and asks the agents of the food chain to see this reflected in the economy of families.
