Smugglers arrested – Illegal migrants fled from the Carinthian police

Date:

After a van with 36 illegal immigrants was recently spotted in Arnoldstein, the police inspection of the Villach highway has now caught two more touts.

On Monday, the Villach Motorway Police Inspectorate carried out laser measurements on the southern A2 motorway near the Villach interchange. At around 10:45 a Pakistani national (36) was stopped with a Romanian car because it was going too fast.

A total of five Indians in the backseat and trunk
In addition to the 36-year-old, there was not only a 55-year-old Romanian passenger in the vehicle, but also five other people with Indian nationality. “They were in the back seat and in the trunk,” police said. During the check, the towed Indians between the ages of 22 and 34 suddenly tried to flee. “Two people could only be apprehended after an immediate search,” the officials said.

In addition to various patrols from the Villach Motorway Police and the Carinthia West FGP Police Inspectorate, an assistance dog patrol and the Libelle police helicopter were also involved in the search. It has now emerged that the Romanian and Pakistani nationals who acted as smugglers wanted to smuggle the five Indian smugglers from Romania via Hungary and Austria to Italy for a fee.

“The five abductees were arrested under the provisions of the Aliens Act and transferred to the Klagenfurt Police Detention Center on the orders of the Federal Office for Immigration and Asylum. The two accused smugglers have been taken to Klagenfurt Prison after interrogation ordered by the public prosecutor’s office of Klagenfurt,” said the police.
