The Justice Department has convened the Lawyers’ Strike Committee (LAJ) for a second meeting next Friday, following the first 15-hour meeting that ended without a deal. The lawyers have been on indefinite strike since January 24, seeking salary improvements to compensate for the increase in workload.
The meeting will take place from 10:30 in the morning. and until noon at the Ministry’s headquarters under the direction of Pilar Llop.
The Secretary General for Innovation and Quality of Public Justice, Manuel Olmedo, said this week that the purpose of the meeting is “keep approaching positions”. “We must lower our tone and be careful, an exercise in respect for the other party in the negotiations,” he assured in statements to TVE.
The strike committee assured this week that they will attend the meeting with “the intention to resolve” and “willing” to be all weekend if necessary to reach an agreement to end the strike indefinitely.
This is the second meeting that the ministry and the LAJ persist after almost a month of indefinite strike by the lawyers, which, according to the calculations of the organizing associations, has meant the suspension of 210,000 views and the blocking of 560 million euros.
