It could have turned out very differently and he still ‘grabbed’ a driver. On the Westautobahn near Mondsee in Upper Austria, a drunk truck driver has had an accident and is now looking for another perpetrator.
It only took five minutes for a drunk truck driver from Wartberg an der Krems to cause two accidents: first, a Serb had to swerve his car because the truck and trailer at the construction site near Innerschwand went too far to the left and cut him. The 45-year-old crashed his car into the concrete center rail. He was not injured, but the car was badly damaged.
Accident driver had 2.42 per thousand in the blood
The 37-year-old truck driver did not stop and drove on. He then went too far to the right and ended up in the ditch with his team. The truck may have collided with a concrete element and the tank was cut open. Trucks and trailers got stuck in the ground and dozens of liters of diesel ran out. The driver of the accident wanted to explain to the police that he was not at fault, but was cut off by a motorist. However, there are no witnesses or traces of this – the Alcoholomat showed that the truck driver had a blood alcohol level of 2.42.
Westautobahn had to be closed for several hours
Because the track at the accident site is narrow due to construction work, the western highway had to be closed for several hours to recover the truck. The fire brigade supported the specialist company in the rescue and also helped to remove the contaminated soil. The drunk truck driver now faces a number of procedures and of course had to immediately surrender his driver’s license.
