1 killed and injured – Schladming: carriage fell over the dike

Serious bus accident near Schladming: A German coach with 32 passengers fell over an embankment late Saturday evening. A German passenger was killed. Another passenger and the bus driver are said to have been seriously injured.

According to the Liezen fire brigade, the accident resulted in one death, one seriously injured, four seriously injured and 26 slightly injured. According to the police, the bus drove on Rohrmooser Landstraße L722 towards Schladming at around 11:15 p.m. on Saturday. In what is known as the “Schlösselkehre”, the vehicle left the road for unknown reasons, fell off the embankment there and came to rest on the flat roof of a commercial building.

Bus rolled over several times
Of the 32 occupants, three trapped persons had to be freed by the fire brigade using hydraulic rescue equipment. The injured were taken to hospitals in Schladming, Schwarzach and Salzburg.

More than 100 rescuers
According to the fire service, the bus rolled over several times and came to a stop on the side of the flat roof of a garage complex or a classic car parked on it. Immediately behind the accident vehicle was a bus with firefighters who provided first aid. The crashed coach was recovered in the early hours of the morning using a truck-mounted crane. According to the fire service, more than 100 emergency services were active during the accident.
