After a soldier in Upper Austria attacks a comrade with an umbrella, the suspect faces a ten-year prison sentence. The injured is still being treated in hospital.
Friday should have been a happy day for a 20-year-old from Mattighofen and his 33-year-old comrade from Mistelbach. But now the youngest is in custody in Garsten Prison, and the eldest is injured in Linz Accident Hospital. Both had reportedly just completed their one and a half year training as sergeants and wanted to celebrate this success at an unofficial graduation ceremony in a bar in Enns. On Friday around 1:30 a.m., an argument between the two escalated.
The younger man injured his opponent in the face with an umbrella so badly that he even had to be temporarily put into an artificial deep sleep. Before the magistrate, the immaculate 20-year-old stated that he was heavily intoxicated at the time of the crime.
