To keep four-legged friends away from his property, a man in Amstetten (Lower Austria) is said to have spread corrosive substances. A dog had to go to the vet with injured feet.
“The legs looked like they were burnt. Like on hot asphalt. But it was October,” says a dog owner from Amstetten. Her American Akita “Thorin” certainly had more and more problems and became more and more lame. A visit to the vet was essential. During the examination, it was clear to the vet that the dog’s paws had been burned. “I immediately wondered where it happened,” says Frauerl in the “Krone” interview.
Powder was scattered sulfur
A few weeks later she was walking through the settlement north of town again when she saw another strange powder on the ground in a street. When she looked closer, she knew: this is sulphur. Next to it on a fence was a small container with a clear liquid – presumably phosphoric acid.
Cat also injured
The woman immediately contacted the police and fire brigade and filed a report on suspicion of animal abuse. Samples of the substances were secured. Since then there has been great concern about the settlement with many children. A cat also had injuries to its legs, the cause of which is not yet known. In addition, a rabbit had died, with countless spots on its skin.
Fortunately, the dog “Thorin” is on the mend. The colossus, which weighs about 50 kilos, had to be cared for for weeks and sometimes had to take heavy medication. The vet costs amount to more than 1000 euros.
The suspect turned himself in to the police
Although the investigation by the executive branch has not yet been completed, the suspect has turned himself in. He just wanted to prevent dogs from entering his property or doing their business there. But he says he doesn’t want to hurt the animals. He had previously distributed “smelling agents” that should only keep the animals at bay.
The results of the investigation into which substances are involved are still pending. The further procedure of the police depends on this.
