The neighbors of an apartment complex in Oberndorf an der Melk responded quickly. A fire broke out there. A couple ended up in the hospital and their lives are out of danger. The respiratory protection team had to rescue the unconscious man from the bedroom.
When an apartment in an apartment building in Oberndorf in the Scheibbs district caught fire, the neighbors had the presence of mind to alert the fire brigade and take the first measures. “The whole house helped. We were very lucky,” says a neighbor of “Krone”. However, she does not want to say more about it, the case is already tragic enough.
“Fire load was too high”
The fire brigade also arrived in no time. “When we arrived, there was a woman lying in the garden in front of the patio door,” says operations manager Bernhard Hörhan, describing the first dramatic scene. The Florianis soon discovered that the 56-year-old’s husband was still missing. “The fire load was too high for us to enter the rooms via the terrace. We entered via the stairs and broke open the door,” Hörhan explains.
Every second counted
When the heavy breathing team opened the door, the couple’s dog immediately fled outside. The 57-year-old man was found unconscious in the bedroom in the smoke and was quickly removed from the home. The fire brigade was able to extinguish the fire in less than 30 minutes. Hörhan is satisfied with his team, which arrived on time.
Investigations are underway
Police said the couple was taken to Scheibbs Hospital and their lives were not in danger. The apartment complex is still habitable for the neighbors. The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
