On Saturday afternoon, a missing ski tourer was searched for on the Zwölferköpfel in Wald am Schoberpass (Leoben district). She was found unharmed.
A 46-year-old from the Leibnitz district was on a ski tour on the Zwölferköpfel with her two companions. The 46-year-old couldn’t keep up with her companions, so they continued the trek to the summit alone. After her companions returned, the 46-year-old could no longer be found at the starting point. A search in the immediate area turned up nothing.
A former innkeeper was also informed by the servants. He called the mountain emergency number 140 at 3 p.m. and the Styrian State Warning Center launched a search. Police officers from the Alpine Task Force Hochsteiermark managed to reach the sister of the missing person. She in turn determined the whereabouts of the 46-year-old more precisely via her mobile phone.
Location successful
At 6:20 p.m., the missing person was finally found near the location point, hypothermic but unharmed. She was taken back to the starting point of the tour in a special vehicle.
The mountain rescue teams Mautern, Leoben, Trofaiach and Vordernberg were involved in the operation with 34 men and a dog unit, the volunteer fire brigades Wald am Schoberpaß, Mautern and Hafning with eight men and the Hochsteiermark Alpine Police with three police officers.
