Advance data for the interannual CPI for February is two-tenths above that of January.

He Consumer Price Index (CPI) recovered to 6.1% in February compared to the same month last year, according to data released today by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). Year-on-year inflation was 5.9% in January, two-tenths less than in February.
In monthly terms, from January to February, the CPI is up 1%, the biggest monthly increase since June last year, when it rose 1.9%.
The Underlying inflation, which does not account for unprocessed foods or energy products, is up two-tenths to 7.7% year-on-year. It is the highest in more than 40 years and places the difference from the general CPI at 1.6 points. Monthly, the increase is 0.7 point.
According to the INE, the year-on-year increase in the CPI in February is mainly due to higher energy prices and the fact that food and non-alcoholic beverage prices increased more than in February last year.
On the contrary, in February the prices of fuels and lubricants fell, which increased in February 2022, and of combined passenger transport.
