Mom can’t go to work
While “ordinary” children are taken care of from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm, the 6-year-old is not allowed to come until 8:00 am and must be picked up again at 12:00 pm. Not only is João Pedro excluded from his circle of friends, it also causes a lot of problems for his parents. Because the 6-year-old has to be picked up after just a few hours, his mother cannot go to work.
“We have to live on just one salary,” says the 49-year-old father of the little one. In addition, there are the expensive therapies that the family has to pay for. “I think it’s outrageous that the health insurer does not at least partially reimburse the therapies.” The couple could not live without a child for a second. They can’t afford a babysitter. The 6-year-old will start school from the fall, where he will be cared for longer.
Too few teachers for too many children
According to Wurzer, this is due to the lack of staff. For 25 children, including five children with special needs, there are only two teachers and two assistants, but they only provide support in the mornings. These would do great. The little one is also making great progress, but could make even greater if he is allowed to stay longer.
