Fatal alpine accident on Sunday in the Tyrolean Stubaital: A 37-year-old Belarusian slipped while taking pictures near the Zuckerhüttel and then fell 100 meters down. The injured person was freed by the ambulance helicopter.
The momentous incident happened just before 1 p.m. The 37-year-old Belarusian, who was part of a group of six climbers, was about 50 meters below the summit of the 3,507-meter Zuckerhutel to take a photo towards the valley floor when he suddenly slipped.
Fall over steep terrain
“The man then fell about 100 meters over steep rocky and snowy terrain,” the police said. The 37-year-old was seriously injured.
Helicopter to the clinic
After first aid at the scene of the accident, the Belarusian was flown to the clinic in Innsbruck with the alerted emergency doctor helicopter.
