After the tragic swimming accident on Saturday in the Sonnentherme Lutzmannsburg in Burgenland, in which a five-year-old girl died, an investigation has now been launched against the child’s father. The man was with the little one in the thermal baths when she apparently jumped unnoticed into the so-called shower.
Specifically, the father is being investigated for negligent homicide, a spokeswoman for Eisenstadt’s prosecutor said Monday. An autopsy was ordered on the victim.
Bader pulled girls out of the pool
The girl jumped into the pool around noon on Saturday. Moments later, a swimmer saw the child floating lifeless in the water and pulled it out of the water. The lifeguard called the ambulance. A doctor and staff who happened to be in the thermal baths provided first aid and started resuscitation measures.
The young woman from Vienna was then flown to the clinic in Donaustadt, where she died on Sunday afternoon. The investigation into the exact course of the accident is still ongoing. The thermal baths have made video recordings available to the authorities.
