Airpower is coming back to Zeltweg (Styria)! At least that is what is announced on the official Facebook page of the air show. There are currently many indications for an appointment next year.
This Facebook post is doing the rounds! According to the official Airpower website, the air show, which last took place at Hinterstoisser Air Base last September, will return to the Murtal.
“As for the next Airpower, which is at the same time a major exercise for the Air Force and the military in general, including the militia, there is ‘breaking news’: Defense Secretary Klaudia Tanner said at a ceremony at Aigen Air Force Base that she has already given the planning order for the next air force,” the message reads there.
There is a lot to be said for 2024
Tanner was at Aigen Air Base last Friday to take delivery of a new Leonardo AW 169 helicopter. On this happy day for the Austrian Air Force, she also delivered the Airpower message. However, an exact date has not yet been set.
Even before Tanner’s statement, many in the military assumed the next air show would be in 2024 — shortening the usual 3-year rhythm. One indicator: a new state parliament will be elected in Styria next year – such a “choice of choice” would taste good to many.
Airpower has so far defied all criticism
Incidentally, Airpower has been “declared dead” several times and also received a lot of criticism in the run-up to the latest editions: in 2019, at the height of the Fridays for Future movement, it was because of the issue of climate protection, in 2022 many thought a military show in times of war inappropriate.
