In the case of alleged abuses at Equip4Ordi GmbH, a subsidiary of the resident curia of the Vienna Medical Association, it was announced on Tuesday that the prosecutor’s office had already ordered the seizure of the suspects’ mobile phones and laptops in mid-February.
The investigations were extended against one of them, namely the chamber employee and confidant of President Johannes Steinhart. Originally reported only because of suspicion of nepotism, according to the prosecutor’s arrest warrant – like the other defendants – he is now suspected of infidelity. This is reported by the online magazine “Dossier”.
Accused: acted on the direction of the president
The suspects allegedly stated that they had acted on Steinhart’s instructions or with his approval. He denies all allegations. These are currently being investigated by the public prosecutor’s office, Municipal Service 40, the Court of Audit and an internal committee of inquiry.
The case concerns serious allegations against two top executives of the Vienna Medical Association and illegally diverted premiums worth hundreds of thousands of euros. The duo were relieved of work, given an entry ban and had to hand in their mobile phones and laptops.
Medical association company will cease its activities
There are now increasing indications that Equip4Ordi will stop. Until now, the company supplied medical materials to doctors’ practices. From March 15, no more orders can be placed, the company says in an information letter to doctors, which is available at the “Kurier”. Analysis has shown that the platform cannot be economically exploited in this form.
