After just eight months, the first vegan Burger King store is already history

Date:

Last summer, the fast food chain Burger King opened its first purely vegan location at Vienna’s Westbahnhof in Austria. After only eight months, however, this pilot project is already a thing of the past.

There were no more meat, dairy or egg products at the location at Vienna’s Westbahnhof. The popular burgers there are made exclusively from 100 percent vegetable products.

Expectations were high and at the reopening in July 2022 vegan burgers were even given away for two hours.

“Serving the same high quality based on 100 percent vegan products is a milestone in the development of our meat-free range for people with a conscious lifestyle,” said Jan-Christoph Küster, Marketing Director of Burger King in Austria at the time.

Regular branch also has a vegan range
But after only eight months, the attempt is already a thing of the past. As the branch manager confirmed to brutkasten.com, the Westbahnhof branch was converted back into a regular branch. “In addition to the vegan range, we also offer meat burgers again and we are regularly open to our guests,” he emphasized. He does not want to give more reasons.
