A rare white tiger cub has been abandoned on a street in Greece, according to a zoo. The four-month-old female big cat was found under a rubbish bin near the zoo’s grounds, the Attic Zoological Park near the capital Athens said Wednesday.
“No one knows where it came from or how it got there,” zoo founder Jean Jacques Lesueur told Proto Thema newspaper.
‘Animal is in deplorable condition’
The tiger cub was most likely unmasked there on Monday. The animal was paralyzed from the waist down. “It’s in terrible shape,” Lesueur reported.
Animal rights organization WWF describes white tigers as a “genetic abnormality” that does not seem to exist in the wild.
They are often the result of inbreeding and are therefore often subject to health problems.
