Strong wind gusts – Stormy hours in the country: only the south is spared

Date:

Stormy hours await us in the west, north and east of Austria. Since Thursday evening, strong gusts of wind have been noticeable in the west of Austria and in the course of the morning and afternoon we will also feel them in Upper Austria, Lower Austria and Vienna…

According to the storm center, gusts reach 70 to 80, sometimes 90 km/h and more at higher altitudes in the morning. At 09:30, however, an impressive outlier had already been reported: on the Jauerling in the Krems-Land district (Lower Austria), the strongest gust of wind reached a speed of 153 (!) km/h. They were followed by Waizenkirchen (Upper Austrian district of Grieskirchen) at 118 km/h and the Feuerkogel in Gmunden (Upper Austria) at 115 km/h.

But the stormy winds have also come to an end – the situation calmed down during the afternoon and the storm died down. According to the current status, the evening should be quiet again.

Temperatures are rising
However, with the storm comes the heat – between 11 and 19 degrees can be reached. In the southeast, which has nice weather and is spared from the storm, it can even reach 20 degrees.

Next layer brings storm again
But the next storm is coming, and soon: as early as Friday evening gusts of wind are expected to rise again from the west. At higher altitudes in the east, speeds of up to 100 km / h could even be reached, the storm center warns.
