The French president has received more support in Ipar Euskal Herria than at the state level.
France’s president, Emmanuel Macron, has also won the presidential election in Ipar Euskal Herria, with even more support than at the state level. Failing to complete the count, the current president took 63.1% of the vote, compared to 36.9% for far-right Marine Le Pen.
In general, the Liberal candidate has triumphed in the major cities, while Le Pen has only won in a few cities, such as Banka, Etxarri, Gixune and Ürrüstoi-Larrabile.
When the polls closed at 7 p.m., the votes for Macron were the majority in the Basque territory. For example, in municipalities such as San Juan de Luz (% 68.72), Hendaye (% 63.3), Biarritz (% 71.77), Maule (% 67.55) or Donibane Garazi (% 73.87) the candidacy most voted by the current president.
