Her passion was cycling – and now it cost a mother (39) from Gallneukirchen her life. A truck driver overlooked the cyclist at an intersection, rear tires rolled over the woman. Her baby daughter is now an orphan at the age of six.
A second of inattention as a death sentence for an innocent: A lorry driver (57) from Neuhofen an der Krems drove on Wednesday around 3 p.m. in Engerwitzdorf from Innertreffling towards the B 125. At the intersection there, a 39-year-old from Gallneukirchen rode her racing bike towards Gallneukirchen. She was on her way home from work in Linz and had the right of way.
First aid measures were unsuccessful
When the truck driver entered the intersection after stopping at the stop sign, he did not see the cyclist and rolled over him with his rear tires. Road users immediately provided first aid and attempted to resuscitate the woman until rescuers arrived. However, the emergency doctor was only able to determine the death.
“News amazes us”
The dead person is Anita Z. She worked for the machine ring and was an avid cyclist, remembers Udo Feyerl, head of department at RC ARBÖ SK VÖEST: “This very sad news leaves us shocked and bewildered. She was always very sociable.” Gallneukirch mayor Sepp Wall-Strasser (SPÖ) was also shocked: “The family lives in my neighborhood. I immediately visited the widower and expressed my condolences.”
Particularly tragic: Anita Z. leaves behind her partner and a six-year-old daughter.
