The European Commission will contact the French government “in the coming weeks” to ask for an explanation for the delay of the high-speed link with Spain via the Atlantic Corridor, a project that forms part of the European Union’s trans-European transport network. “It is a matter that we are following very closely, in fact we have planned contacts at a technical level with the French authorities in the coming weeks to clarify a number of matters,” said Community Executive Transport spokesman Adalbert Jahnz, when prompted by Paris’ intention postpone the Bordeaux-Dax route until at least 2042 that will tie in with the ‘Basque Y’.
