Driver drunk – guardrail pierced engine block of small car

Date:

A spectacular traffic accident occurred on the B100 Drautal Straße in Carinthia on Friday evening. The 40-year-old driver left the road and hit a guard rail, which pierced the small car at the radiator grille and protruded again on the passenger side.

The man left the road on the right at Rothenthurn with his low loader and collided head-on with a guardrail, which pierced the engine block and came out on the driver’s side of the small car.

Driver was heavily intoxicated
The driver was seriously injured in the accident and was taken by ambulance to Spittal an der Drau hospital after first aid. An alcohol test performed confirmed heavy alcoholization.

Leaked oil-fuel mixture bound
To prevent environmental damage, the fire brigade was able to bind the leaked oil-fuel mixture at the same time. The vehicle involved in the accident was towed by a towing company. The deformed guardrail had to be dismantled and cut off by the fire service.
