Officials stopped bleeding – dispute ends in street with stabbing

Date:

A massive brawl broke out on the open street in Vienna-Meidling on Saturday around 6:15 p.m. between four people aged 18, 31, 36 and 37. Suddenly, the 37-year-old allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed his 36-year-old opponent in the thigh and upper arm. Coincidentally, a WEGA officer was on the scene at the time of the crime – administering first aid.

After the 37-year-old stabbed his opponent, he immediately fled in his car. A WEGA police officer – he was off duty at the time of the crime – was able to observe the attack and immediately administered first aid to the injured person.

WEGA police officer was able to stop the victim’s bleeding
The agent is a so-called WEGA doctor. He received extensive training in tactical wound care and was therefore able to quickly stop the victim’s thigh hemorrhage and bandage the wound to his upper arm. Until the arrival of the Viennese professional rescue service, the WEGA-Medic regularly checked the vital parameters of the injured. The professional rescue service in Vienna then took over further emergency medical care and took the 36-year-old to a hospital. The man is not in a life-threatening condition.

Suspected perpetrator arrested in apartment
Meanwhile, the address of the alleged perpetrator was determined by police officers from the Hufelandgasse police inspectorate, since the license plate number of his car was known. Officials of the WEGA special unit arrested the 37-year-old without resistance at his home address in the Liesing district.

The suspect has admitted to being involved in the scuffle, but claims not to have used a knife.
