After a devastating fire in Switzerland, in which a family of five was found dead in a burnt-out house, detectives assume foul play. All victims in Yverdon-les-Bains had gunshot wounds, police said.
The police provisionally assume that the father shot and killed his daughters aged five, nine and 13 and their 40-year-old mother and then committed suicide.
Thursday morning there was a violent explosion in the house, which then caught fire. The bodies were recovered from the burnt ruins on Thursday and Friday.
Gun found next to father’s body
It was impossible that other persons were involved. A gun was found near the deceased father, police said. In addition, large quantities of fire accelerator, probably gasoline, were found in the building.
