Tanja Bauer has cancer. Soon she will need a stem cell donation. Anyone who registers as a donor can become their lifesaver – and is our Viennese of the week.
Health is the highest good. Although most people know this, you don’t really notice it until you suddenly don’t have it anymore. Even headaches are immensely limiting. Tanja Bauer has to experience what it’s like to be seriously ill. The 24-year-old graduate nurse was diagnosed with lymphoma in June last year. “It turned my life upside down. The fight against cancer is a huge challenge,” she says.
Despite the wasteful chemotherapy, however, she has not lost her positive attitude to life. “On October 12, 2022, I had my last chemotherapy and was deemed to be in remission. Unfortunately, the cancer came back a month ago,” says Tanja. You may soon need a stem cell donation.
We call on you, dear readers, to register as a stem cell donor. Anyone who does this is our Weener of the week. Your donation can give hope. Registration is simple and uncomplicated: a few health questions and a cheek swab are all it takes. The chance of actually being selected is small. When it’s your turn, you can save lives just like Tanja.
