On Wednesday evening, another reed fire broke out at Lake Neusiedl, this time in Mörbisch (Eisenstadt area). Firefighters spent hours trying to extinguish the fire as quickly as possible. A snow cat was even used to extinguish the fire.
The fire broke out just before midnight, the cause of the fire is not yet known. Fortunately, according to the state security center Burgenland, no one was injured in the fire.
Already second fire in March
The extinguishing work in Mörbisch prevented it from spreading to a sea hut and a waste collection point just in time.
Around 04:00 the fire had spread to Hungarian territory, but was also under control after a few hours.
Extinguishing work in the morning
On Wednesday morning there were still post-extinguishing activities on the Austrian side. A total of 35 men were deployed to extinguish the fire. It was not until the beginning of March that there was a reed fire in Winden am See.
