President Emmanuel Macron’s pension reform faces a pivotal day today with votes in the Senate and National Assembly.
The controversial bill, which a raising the minimum retirement age from 62 to 64 years old, there will be debate and certain voting in the Senate from 9:00 am and in the National Assembly from 3:00 pm.
Everything indicates that the vote in the Senate will continue, but Macron is not guaranteed a vote in the National Assembly.
In the event that it could not approve the reform, Emmanuel Macron’s government does not rule out resorting to the controversial Article of the French Constitution 49.3 to approve it by decree.
The meeting of the two chambers takes place one day after the eighth day of mobilizations against the reform since the executive unveiled details of the project. Even if there is an approval, workers’ representatives have already warned that they will continue to mobilise.
The unions organized a new protest near the People’s Assembly today to put pressure on the deputies.
