Incomplete data – New president of the Czech Republic has to pay 2500 euros

Date:

New Czech president Petr Pavel has to pay a fine for incomplete data from campaign donors. For example, according to the Czech media, addresses and dates of birth were missing. The decision was made before he took office.

That’s why Pavel didn’t have immunity yet. The president said it was not possible for him to get all the data from the donors. “If there are 6,000 donors and you need all the necessary data from them, such as address and dates of birth, and someone doesn’t give anything, you have no leverage to get the data,” he said.

No problem with punishments
However, he “had no problem at all” paying the fine, because such difficulties were bound to happen. The fine of 60,000 kroner (equivalent to 2,500 euros) is the highest ever imposed by the parties’ finance supervision bureau. It is said that it has already been paid.

Pavel was elected president in January and took office on March 9. Pavel describes his political position as “right of center”, but is sometimes considered progressive on social issues. For example, he advocates same-sex marriage and advocates strong military support for Ukraine. In the eighties he was a member of the communist party.
