Peru’s authorities remain alert given the forecast that during this weekend the strong rains who have left so far 50 dead and thousands homeless.
The National Center for Disaster Risk Assessment, Prevention and Reduction (Cenepred) has reported that the risk scenario for this Saturday and Sunday 409 districts of the north coast and highlands of the country.
Peru’s President Dina Boluarte reported this Friday that the rains have so far caused the deaths of 50 people, 8,000 homeless, more than 50,000 affected1,300 houses destroyed and 640 kilometers of roads damaged.
Boluarte confirmed the presentation to the congress of a project for the creation of a national infrastructure authorityresponsible for control work on river basins, such as the Rímac River, which flows through the center of Lima and has a high level of risk due to the current rainfall.
